OUR STORY..

The Facebook page started in 2011 by Angela who worked at a local animal hospital and saw the need for a faster way to reunite pets with their owners. Strays would come off the streets and many times they were at a dead end in finding the owners. At the time this was the only group of it’s kind on Facebook for the Terre Haute area. Due to reaching over 6,000 followers they had to move the group to a Facebook page. As the page grew, so did the awareness. Missing Pets has been featured on WTWO Channel 2 and in the Tribune Star newspaper. Along with reuniting missing pets, the page also shares health, safety, and recovery tips in finding missing pets. The page also educates pet parents about potential scammers, dog fighting bait dogs, Craigslist, etc. Today the page has over 15,000 followers and has progressed to an online form to report missing, found, and sightings of pets. This was primarily due to ease and posting pets in a timely manner. This is also used to edit posts from owners who overshare information or do not send enough information about a pet. In 2020, the Facebook page has turned into a non-profit organization that has many projects to help the community with their pet's needs. The page’s success is all due to the caring community who shares the posts and those who take the time to post their missing or found pet.
